Digital marketing is an incredibly competitive industry as more consumers look online to do product research and finalize their purchase decisions. Arshad Madhani still manages to stand out as a market leader in the space though. As a kid, Madhani used to create things and then “market” them to his friends and family, never realizing that his childhood game would ultimately become a lifelong passion.
Madhani brings two skills to the table: he knows how to crunch the numbers and determine what a brand needs to do to stay relevant in the eyes of its target audience, and he knows how to effectively communicate that information to his clients. He was kind enough to share four of his best business tips with us below:
- Keep Your Phone Away from Your Bedside at Night
Yes, it’s tempting to keep your phone within arm’s reach at night. You might even convince yourself that you’re doing it for work, as an important email might come in while you’re asleep.
I recently shared with IdeaMensch that I keep my phone away from my bed during the evening hours as the best course of action to help me wind down at night and get up in the mornings. Otherwise, I can just hit the snooze button and go back to sleep when it’s time to wake up. If I need to physically get out of bed to turn the alarm off, I find that it’s much easier to get up instead of climbing back into bed. That gets me off to a more productive start!
There’s also ongoing research that the blue glow of smartphones and tablets may adversely affect sleep patterns, a potential bonus!
- Always Expand Your Knowledge
No business owner knows everything, especially since technology is constantly evolving. I like to use the little downtime I enjoy readingbooks about business and listening to podcasts so that I’m always learning new things. I recently shared with Five Hundo some of my favorite podcasts that help me relax and unwind.
Right now, my favorite book is The Accidental Creative by Todd Henry. It teaches how to foster an environment in which good ideas can come to light, making it applicable to nearly any industry. It’s a fantastic read that I wholeheartedly endorse!
- Make Sure You Have the Right Tools
Having the right tools ensures that you can do whatever you do as efficiently as possible. For example, I use a program called Breeze that keeps my workflow organized, ensuring that I’m aware of upcoming meetings, due dates, and how long I have to complete any given project.
I also use RescueTime to keep tabs on exactly how long I spend on any project or client. It’s also a great way to ensure that an innocent search for one cat video doesn’t turn into hours wasted on YouTube.
- Collaborate with Those from A Variety of Backgrounds
Networking is one of the most important skills for an entrepreneur to master. Business is about building connections both inside of your industry and outside of it, as you never know when you might need a helping hand.
I also enjoy collaborating with those from different backgrounds, as it provides a valuable opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and learn something new. It also helps me complete innovative projects that I just couldn’t do on my own.
